Kenya Rift Valley Safari

The rift valley is the greatest valley in the world a continental fault system which stretches from the dead sea all the way to Mozambique .in Kenya, the valley forms a great rift through the middle of the country beginning from Turkana in the north to lake Magadi to the south. in between are a series of other lakes: Lake Barigo,Lake Bogoria, Lake Nakuru, lake Elmentaita, and Lake Naivasha.only two of these lakes (Naivasha and Baringo) are fresh water lakes .the others are shallow soda lakes.

You become one of the privileged few when you stay at the kongoni Game valley ranch. The elegance of the Brithgttti ranch house and its dramatic setting make this a very special place. The Kongoni Game Valley Ranch house is on a hilltop overlooking Lake Naivasha and the surrounding volcano peaks. The romance of the place begins in 1901 with a French marquis who built this home in Africa for his new American bride. They lived there happily until the early 1940s.they are both buried in a secluded part of the garden where the view they loved is absolutely breathtaking. The long low stone house with its ochre-tiled roof stands in a wide expanse of mowed lawns and tended gardens. It all feels very established and well-cared for there is an aura if quality.

Mountain ranges are covered in forests with hidden trout streams. These highlands streams flow to swift moving rivers that suddenly burst out and down into dramatic falls of water. Climbing a small rise can yield a panoramic vista of plains and plateaus rising to range after range of distant mountains. In the center, Mt Kenya dominates.

Most people only see the Aberdare country club because it is the departure base for the Ark, A night game viewing lodge. The minivan disgorges their international, camera toting cargo before lunch. After lunch the dark green ark buses roll out heading for the Aberdare forest. The crowds come back next morning looking weary and disheveled to herded back into minivans and on to the next stop.
